BED MANAGEMENT
A patient placement system that uses diagnosis and severity data to place patients in the appropriate area of the hospital. The system uses historic hospital data and incoming data from other PreCIS systems to project patient demand and identify potential bottlenecks before they occur. Like PreCIS Staffing, PreCIS Bed Management utilizes the outputs of the other systems; which, in this case to ensure that patients are placed appropriately within the hospital. It performs the following tasks:
- Tracking of patient admission/discharges: tracking of times of day of patient admissions and discharges to ensure appropriate resources are available to assist in patient throughput.
- Tracking of bed placement processes: Tracking of current patient placement in hospital and anticipated discharge day/time, red flags for units with projected bottlenecks for admissions and discharges, monitoring of bed turnaround times.
Managerial reporting: patient placement variances by unit to determine which times of day and units have patient placement bottlenecks or vacancies, tracking of effect of sub-optimal patient placement on length of stay (by patient type)
