STAFFING AND SCHEDULING
PreCIS Staff – A proactive staffing and scheduling system that utilizes data from other Pre-CIS systems or historical hospital data to appropriately allocate staff to each hospital department based on projected hospital volumes, volume times, and projected patient acuity. With the PreCIS OR, ED, and HR systems complete, the outputs of these systems will be used in the design of the staffing system. The HR system, in particular, will be a prerequisite for the staffing system as many key components of the staffing system come from data stored in the HR system. A unique algorithm uses the licensure and employer satisfaction data to optimally place employees at the top of the available staff list in the PreCIS staffing module.
- Development of staffing schedules: number of scheduled employees based on historical and current hospital data, staff mix appropriate for estimated patients
- Staffing: Refreshes data every 2 hours to ensure staff mix is appropriate for the number of patients, re-validates staffing schedules 6 weeks, 2 weeks, 3 days, 1 day and 1 shift in advance to allow managers time to alter staffing if necessary, and assesses vacancies by shift to review effectiveness of staff mix calculation
- Productivity reporting: productivity in worked hours and in worked dollars to assure that the number and type of staff are appropriate
Managerial reporting: Tracks productivity statistics by manager, supervisor, and director. Tracks by shift the realistic staffing choices and the economic impact of the managerial decision made
